The thesis is devoted to the "Engineering Matters" formation and history, its influence on the scientific researches in railway transport development at the beginning of the XX century. The outstanding national experts on railway transport published their articles in the analized journal, such as I. Podolskyi, Ye. Paton, H. Perederii, V. Obraztsov, H. Budahov, H. Kolodyzenskyi and others. The works devoted to construction of railways and their operation, rail networking, railway economy, building of railroad bridges, rolling-stock technique on the railways are worth mentioning. Using of "Engineering Matters" materials is indispensable condition for adecuate reproduction of development processes in railway transport in Ukraine
