The scientific research is devoted to the theoretical, methodological and practical elements of forming senior demographic concepts in the process of economic and social geography learning. The significance of the formation of demographic concepts in the 9th grade, exact in the transition from primary to high school, is proven. The psychological and pedagogical conditions of learning the demographic characteristics of population are justified. The contents of demographic concepts in textbooks and manuals in economic and social geography are analyzed and refined. The standardization and systematization of the demographic concepts of school geography course are done. The mapping and structural and logical training models from demographic area are devised. The paper experimentally proved the efficacy of the developed methods of demographic concepts’ formation in analytical, tabular and graphical forms. The criteria for evaluating the understanding of demographic concepts are devised. The methodological guidelines for the successful demographic concepts’ assimilation by pupils of the 9th and 10th grade are proposed. The results can be used in the practice of teaching.
