Lagunova O. Ethnological activities of Agatanghel Krymsky.

The present thesis, based on a combined analysis of archives, published sources and available literature, is dealing with the contribution of Agatanghel Krymsky (1871-1942) - well-known scientist and writer, public figure - to the formation of Ukrainian ethnology, and his main research methods are considered. The periods of formation of the scientist as ethnologist are defined, as well as the circle of scientists and public figures who have influenced the development of his ethnological views. A particular attention is paid to a study of the theoretical works of Agatanghel Krymsky in the field of foreign and Ukrainian ethnology. An analysis has been made, of the correspondence of this scientist from Lebanon as an ethnographic source relative to the traditional culture of orthodox Arabs. The main components and periods of his ethnographic work entitled "The region of Zvenygorodka, Motherland of Taras Shevchenko: from an ethnographic and dialectological point of view" have been determined (Kyiv, 1930).
