Essay

The aim of the study is a determination of the basic principles of an architectural-planning organization of the medico-social rehabilitation centres for disabled children and teenagers, their functional-planning and volumetric-spatial decisions. The object of the study is the rehabilitation establishments for disabled children and teenagers. The subject of the study is an architectural-planning organization of the medico-social rehabilitation centres for disabled children and teenagers. The research methods are: an analysis of literary sources; the model inspections of the establishments that perform the duty of the rehabilitation centres; a questionnaire questioning; a comparative analysis of the domestic and foreign practice of planning and constructing; a classification method of the potential visitors' requirements for the rehabilitation centres; a method of an integration of the rehabilitation complexes in the structure of the city; a method of an experimental design. A scientific novelty of the thesis lies in the following: the question of forming the medico-social rehabilitation establishments network in accordance with the level of loading(capacity) of rehabilitation cells is first system-examined; the general model of the living environment and the model of the rehabilitation environment for disabled children are developed for the complete rehabilitation process; the typological features of the functional-planning decisions and volumetric-spatial techniques of forming the environment for disabled children treatment and adaptation are educed; the functional diagrams are improved; the basic functional blocks are defined and the recommendations for rational application of the composition decisions are presented; the city-planning placing suggestions and the nomenclature of establishments types for the rehabilitation process for disabled children and teenagers are presented.
