Vyshynska N. Processes of style-creation and ways of renewal of musical imagery in the chamber-vocal music of M.P. Musorgsky

In this thesis, the process of formation of M. Musorgsky's individual style is examined through his songs, romances and vocal cycles. Complexes of means of musical expression, compositionally and semantically stable, are found and defined as dynamic components of the style ("the style of light and silence", "the expressive style"). General cultural and personal factors which stimulated the development of these complexes in M. Musorgsky's chamber-vocal music are traced. The nature of mutual connection between biographical facts and evolution of the dynamic components of the style in M. Musorgsky's opuses is revealed. The substantiation of M. Musorgsky's chamber-vocal music as a holistic phenomenon of musical culture is accomplished, with an accent on its significance as an accumulator of important cultural tendencies and in the same time the renewing factor of the national musical style, Russian and European musical culture.
