The theoretical grounds of scientific research were defined; the meanings of key words (rhetorical activity, rhetorical discourse, aspects of rhetorical activity, rhetorization of education, rhetorical competence) were concretized; the basic rhetorical skills, which the pupils of the 5th-9th grades must have in order to develop their rhetorical competence, were defined too; criteria and levels of rhetorical skills were developed; the content, principles and methods of teaching were determined. The stages (rhetorical observation, rhetorical modeling, rhetorical creation) of experimental-research teaching were sustained and the complex of exercises was characterized that allowed to represent the methodic of the rhetorical skills building up
