Chamula D. The iconography of Dionysus in the Northern Black Sea Antic monuments: cultural aspect.

A thesis is devoted to investigation of the iconography of Dionysus, myths about him, as well as issues of the Dionysian cult considering on the example of coroplast and vase painting from the excavations of the ancient Greek places of Northern Black Sea Region. The basic range of subjects of the myth about Dionysus is determined, and they are considered in their correlation and reflection in the works of ancient vase painting and coroplast. Conception of the cyclic structure of the Dionysian myth with the central subject of the sacred marriage of Dionysus with the mortals, ancient heroes as hypostases of this Godhead and other Gods was revealed. Chtonic semantics of the images of Dionysian circle in the vase painting of so called Kerch style of IV century B.C. was considered.
