Essay

The thesis is based on the archaeological research of the Bakhchisaray Khan's Palace and it is the first in Ukrainian science specialized, comprehensive study of this architectural monument. The thesis proposes a brand-new, based on archaeological data, history of the Crimean Tatar palace construction, from Kyrk-Yer until the last period of the existence of the Sahib Geray palace. Furthermore the periodization of the Sahib Geray Palace of XVI-XVIII centuries is presented in the research. The study proves that the construction periods of the palace are far more complex than the current "two-staged" and while maintaining it's general planning zonal structure, significant changes in the overall structure of the complex have been made at least by 8 Khans. The author of thesis identifies two stages of influence in the historical and chronological context of the construction of the palace in the Crimean Khanate: the Golden Horde (the 30-ies of the XVI century, the construction of the palace in Kyrk-Yer) and the Ottoman (mid XVI-XVIII centuries - TopkapiPalace was taken as a model). The substructures in the system of Khan's Palace which are coherent, closed complexes and previously were not mentioned in the written sources were identified for the first time on the basis of archaeological research.
