Khlystun O. The Traditional Christmas and New Year holidays of the Ukrainians in the contemporary of the art projections

This thesis is devoted to the complex study of the art projections of the New Year of the Ukrainians, their unique artistic staging which is subordinated to the dominant idea - to create the poetic image of the prosperity, happiness and peace. The state of the historiography on the specified problem and the source base of this research are characterized; the categories of the research, namely the ceremonial culture, calendar and ritual celebration, Christmas and New Year holidays, art projections, etc. are specified. The modern forms of the Christmas festivity in the context of its bright manifestations of traditional aesthetics are analyzed and the features of the interpretation of the Christmas and New Year's ritual of Ukrainians in the Soviet era are revealed. The dynamics of the transformation of the traditional New Year's celebration in the XIXth - early XXth centuries is described and the experience of the recultivation of the art traditions of Christmas festivity in the modern Ukraine is characterized.
