Essay

This thesis focuses on teaching university students who major in non-linguistic fields to process educational information by means of conceptual modeling developed in cognitive science. Conceptual modeling is a natural cognitive instrument employed by the human mind in information processing. Therefore, it can become an effective tool which helps university students to successfully gain knowledge in a particular professional field. However, analysis of relevant pedagogical works testifies that application of conceptual modeling in teaching and learning escapes proper theoretical attention. Respectively, university curricula do not have practical courses introducing students to various techniques of conceptual modeling that facilitate structuring professional data which are constantly expanding.
