The object of the research is the process of teaching tailors the subject of "Manufacturing clothes". The purpose is to develop, theoretically justify, and experimentally test methods of forming the subject competence of future tailors; research methods are: theoretical, empirical, methods of mathematical statistics; novelty: there were theoretically founded, developed and tested: the methods of forming the subject competence of future tailors; the technology of making clothes is based on the complex formation of the appropriate subject competence as the synthesis of the required knowledge , skills , experience and professionally important qualities; model of forming of subject competence of future tailors, which involves successive formation of terminological , graphical , technological , design and control subject competencies that are parts of it; the development and content of the logical structure of subject competence of future tailors were further developed (definition of components of subject competence through specification of informational and activity components); the technology of monitoring of forming the subject competence of future tailors (the development of the qualimetric model and the matrix of subject competence of tailors that reflect the level of formation of competencies that are parts of it). The results of the research are introduced into the educational process of state vocational school "Kharkov Higher Vocational School of Services", Kharkov professional lyceum of sewing technology, Lutsk Center of Vocational Education, the state vocational school "Centre of Vocational Education number 4 Kharkiv"
