Riazantseva D. The adjective of the Ukrainian language in the aspect of the category of estimation.

Object - adjective of modern Ukrainian language as a representative of the category of estimation; the aim is to find out pragmatic potential of lexical, grammatical and word-formation categories of an adjective of modern Ukrainian language; methods that are used: descriptive, componential analysis, analysis of dictionary definitions, analysis of lexicographical sources, context- situational analysis of discourse, comparative analysis, method of linguistic experiment, quantitative calculations, observation and solid sampling; novelty - for the first time in Ukrainian linguistics an analysis of adjectives in modern Ukrainian language in the grammar evaluation measurements addressing characteristics of its functioning in different styles of Ukrainian language is carried out: the status of investigation of the linguistic and philosophical assessment categories is described as well as an adjective in the traditional and new pragmatically oriented linguistics; lexical, grammatical and word-formation categories of adjectives that are updated to model evaluative meanings are characterized; tendency of the Ukrainian language to model evaluative meanings by means of adjectival forms is marked; the degree of efficiency of mechanisms of the language game with the participation of lexical and grammatical categories of an adjective, its word-formation abilities and violations of compatibility in the modern Ukrainian language practice for expressing evaluative meaning is determined; lexicographical problems of axiological meanings of an adjective are indicated; peculiarities of functioning of grammatical categories of an adjective which generate evaluation in fiction, journalistic, scientific, religious texts and spoken language are clarified; results - the actual material, the main points and conclusions of the thesis can be used in university lecture courses and on practical training, in teaching of special courses and seminars on the morphology, pragmalinguistics and style of modern Ukrainian language, in the process of compiling dictionaries of the Ukrainian language including the active type, as well as in translation practice and teaching of Ukrainian as a foreign language; industry - morphology, axiological pragmalinguistics.
