Dihtyar A. Medical and social justification of optimization psychiatric help to the population of elderly and senior age in conditions of restructuring of general system of health protection.

The dissertation is devoted to estimate the state of psychiatric help to the population of elderly and senior age with a justification for its optimization. Evaluation of psychiatric help to the population of elderly and senior age was conducted. Based on the calculation of the level and structure hospitalized morbidity, the average length of stay of the patient in the hospital, patients' age, depending on the nosology proved inefficient use of bunks in psychiatric hospitals. Determined the prevalence of major syndromes of mental and behavioral disorders in the population of elderly and senior age possible to calculate the need for doctors psychologists and psychiatrists to give them psychiatric help. The proposed conceptual directions of optimization of psychiatric help to the population of elderly and senior age, qualitatively new element of which was the scheme of dynamic observation of the condition of psychiatric health contingent on the distribution of functional relationships between doctors of primary care and psychiatric profiles. Implementation of certain elements in the activities of medical institutions has proved its medical, social and economic performance.
