Essay

Dissertation presents complex study of antiquities of Linear Pottery culture in Upper and Middle Dnister and Western Bug regions. Sources and material of Linear Pottery culture in studied region known today are collected together. Map of archaeological sites is made. It is found that in cultural and historical terms, the Upper and Middle Dnister and Western Bug regions is an integral part of the great ethnic and cultural zone. Chronology of sites of LPC of studied region defined within the period between 5550/5500 - 5100/5000 - 4900/4800 BC. It is found that on the territory of Upper and Middle Dnister and Western Bug regions sites of LPC of all three phases of its development are known. The first period is represented by such sites as Grudek Nadbuzhny and Yosypivka I. Middle classic period includes most of the discovered and researched sites of LPC: Kotovane I, Bilshivtsi, Medynia, Tadani, Vynnyky, Gonchary, Pidberiztsi, Verbkovitse-Kotoruv, Nezvysko, Torske and other. Settling of territory of Dnister and Western Bug regions by population of LPC in the later period is witnessed by materials from such sites as Blyschanka, Yezupil I and Podgortse.
