Essay

The thesis presents the results of studies on the changes in engineering status of irrigation systems, which occurred in the course of their long-term operation and proves the necessity of improving the existing technology of water regime control in drained soils and providing guaranteed amounts of water for subsoil moistening in dry periods. The developed resource-saving technology of water regime control for soils based on both accumulation of drainage flow from the drained areas and use of water from the surface bodies of water located beyond irrigation systems have been tested in the production environment. The results of studies on the different ways of supplying water into the collector-drainage network for subsoil moistening show that under regulating the specified groundwater levels using technical tools, the most effective way is to supply water to upper drains, which enables the most efficient use of water and provides optimal water regime of soils on the drained land. It has been developed the theoretical basis for the available water supply increase of reclamation systems for moistening drained land in dry periods by water withdrawing from surface bodies of water located beyond the systems and its subsequent accumulating in the transportation channels. The method for determining parameters for the transportation channels and calculating needed amounts of water for the subsoil moistening depending on the area of drained land is proposed.
