Dursunov R. International legal recognition of states (problems of theory and practice).

The thesis is devoted to theoretical and practical aspects of the Institute of recognition in international law. It is researched the theoretical understanding of the institution of recognition in international law from its appearance to modern ideas in the beginning of XXI century. It is considered the institute of recognition of the states as a unilateral act by its international legal form. It is analyzed the relationship of the institute of recognition of the states and international personality of the states. Explored the role and place of the institution of recognition in shaping of the international legal status of unrecognized political subdivisions. The thesis investigates aspects of the practical application of the recognition of the institution on the examples of self-proclaimed political subdivisions as the Republic of Cyprus, Kosovo, Transdnistrian Moldovan Republic, South Ossetia, Abkhazia and Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. During the analysis of practice of international legal recognition of the states it was formulated authorial definition of unrecognized political entities.
