Essay

The thesis is devoted to the problems of formation, development and testing of different techniques of studying the influence of mass-media on audience. In the thesis basic theoretical positions are stated, the goal and objectives of the research are formulated. In the thesis is introduced an overview of theories, methods and techniques of studying the mass communication influence which were used in foreign science and also in the USSR. On the basis of analysis of candidate's, doctoral theses, collective and individual monographs, articles in specialized publications, in which the problems of mass-media influence are covered, the main methods of studying the mass communication influence are determined. The thesis deals with real data on researches of media influence in the West and in the USSR, summarizes methodological experience of foreign and Soviet scientists. Periodization of formation of methodological support of researches of media influence in the USSR and independent Ukraine is introduced.
