The dissertation is theoretical and experimental research on the issue of forming key professional competences in training foreign language teachers by means of cross-cultural communication. It clarifies the structure and essence of the phenomenon "key professional competences in training foreign language teachers", the notion of cross-cultural communication. The constituents of key professional competences are characterized, namely those of foreign language communicative, informative, discourse, technological and reflexive ones. Structurally the foreign language competence is further subdivided into communicative competence, communicative performance and lingual-cultural sub competences. The levels of training key professional competences and their assessment data are offered, identified and argued.
