The dissertation is presented a theoretical analysis of the problem of professionalism and technical competence in psychological science. There was constructed structural and functional model of professional competence of the individual operative worker of Units of Internal Affairs during their professional activities. There was conducted the empirical research of individual psychological and typological character traits of personality of workers of criminal police operational units with different levels of professional competence, there were defined personal determinants of professional competence, there were specified individually - typological groups of employees by professional competence in the dissertation.
