Essay

Object - the process of developing English language self-learning skills in students of the humanities in out-of-class work. Purpose - to ground scientifically and approve experimentally the methodology of English language self-learning in students of the humanities in out-of-class work. Methods - theoretical and empirical. Theoretical results and novelty - the difference between the concepts of "self-learning" and "independent work" has been established; the role of the students' creative and reflexive activities in the process under study has been proved; the kinds of foreign language self-learning have been specified; the linguo-didactic models of their realization have been elaborated; the algorithms of methodical actions for the development of the skills under study while reading and writing have been worked out; the effectiveness of the suggested methodology has been verified. The essence of the notion "foreign language self-learning" has been specified. Practical results - the course lectures "The methods of English language self-learning in students of the humanities" and the textbook "Global environmental problems of today and ways to solve them" have been worked out. Efficiency of production is high. Branch - pedagogical, higher educational establishments.
