Object - learning process of self-expansion of future philologists' potential English vocabulary for the authentic speech perception. Purpose - theoretically and practically elaborate the methodology of developing of future philologists' potential English vocabulary for the authentic speech perception. Methods - theoretical, empitical, statistic. Theoretical results and novelty - the methodology of developing of future philologist's potential English vocabulary has been theoretically substatiated and elaborated. The essence of the notion "future philologists' potential vocabulary" has been defined as the vocabulary which embraces nominative, derivative and idiomative groups of words; is based on unknown lexical units that can be understood due to the learned rules of word formation, language and contextual supposition, and student’s linguistic abilities of understanding authentic news media reports. Methods of potential English vocabulary formation have been analyzed, their advantages and disadvantages have been outlined. The psychological features of mass media information perception have been determined; the linguistic difficulties arising while listening to mass media reports have been highlighted and the ways of their overcoming have been suggested. The linguodidactic model of future philologists’ potential English vocabulary formation has been elaborated. The corresponding system of exercises has been modelled and its effectiveness has been confirmed by means of the suggested criteria and evaluative indicators.Practical results - a system of exercises and a special cource in teaching future philologists audition of publicistic text book "A Practical course of potential vocabulary development" have been developed. Efficiency of introduction is high. Branch - pedagogical, higher educational establishments.
