Essay

It is researched small architectural forms (architectural landscape elements) in artistic and cultural scope of the cities in Western Ukraine in terms of Ukrainian artistic culture. It is established that most small architectural forms of the latter half of the 20th century were developing depending on the changes in architectural organization of city environment as the result of renewal in post-war period. At that time typical projects of SAF became widespread and were established on the most territories of the cities in Western Ukraine. The complex formation of a new space environment was a positive factor, at the same time making a negative component, namely the loss of own identity and uniqueness of the city regions historically formed by SAF. Mobility and substitutability of most SAF gave the opportunity to trace the changes in architectural stylistics in the specified period. It is researched how SAF are adapted for presentation of a new political course in a newly formed state by the use of symbols and stylistics of details. It is specified and supplemented the existing SAF classification. Based on the analysis of the state of scientific research and practice problems it is revealed the tendencies and the developed principles of SAF preservation and renovation in Ukraine.
