Essay

The thesis deals with the issue of self- and peer assessment of English Listening Competence for the Future Philologists. The methodology of organizing of self- and peer assessment of English listening competence for future philologists has been theoretically substantiated and practically worked out. The contents and structure of self- and peer assessment have been observed, the psycho-physiological mechanism of self-assessment has been investigated. There have been specified the objectives, the functions and the types of self- and peer assessment. There have been determined the objects of self- and peer assessment, the components of English listening competence. There have been substantiated and worked out the means of self- and peer assessment: listening tips, questions for heuristic discussion, test tasks, self-assessment checklists. Using the results of the conducted theoretical study, the subsystem of test tasks intended for future interpreters’ self- and peer assessment, the complex of test tasks and the model have been developed. The effectiveness of the suggested methodology has been verified and confirmed during the experimental teaching. Based on the results of the theoretical study and experimental teaching, the methodological recommendations for the arrangement of self- and peer assessment of English listening competence for future philologists have been elaborated.
