Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the mental working capacity and cerebral circulation under hypoxia in the elderly people with physiological and accelerated aging of the respiratory system and to the way of their correction by using normobaric hypoxic interval trainings. We have found that deterioration of mental functions under hypoxic conditions was more pronounced in the elderly with an accelerated aging of the respiratory system. The latter demonstrated a more significant increase of the cerebral blood flow compared to people the with physiological aging. Following simultaneous hypoxic and psycho-emotional stress exposure of the elderly with an accelerated aging of the respiratory system it was possible to register even greater rise of the cerebral blood flow. Besides, they displayed a more marked reaction of the sympathetic-adrenal system and a low heart rate reaction to mental stress and hypoxia. As a result of performance of interval normobaric hypoxic trainings, the mental and psychomotor performance have much improved in the elderly people with different types of respiratory system aging and their resistance to hypoxia has increased.
