Essay

Until very recently the artistic works of Gafer Seydamet and his role in Crimean Tatar literature were much unknown. This dissertation is an attempt to look at the writer's legacy through the prism of socio-political events in Crimea in the first half of the XX century. This research is identified, systematized, studied and put into the scientific usage unknown before manuscripts and articles including the scripts (transliterated from Arabic to Cyrillic) and previously unknown articles and essays of G. Seydamet translated from German, French, Polish, Turkish languages. The dissertation analyzes main sources, ideological content and thematic focus of writer's works, reveals how his legacy reflects moral and national patriotic principles important for Crimean society at that time. This study is also an attempt to define the ideological and artistic value of writer's works by analyzing linguistic elements, lexical resources and stylistic features he used in his works. Thesis outlines the main stages Gafer Seydamet's professional grow as a journalist in 1911-1918, analyzes his articles of that period, specifies their characteristics, defines the artistic components and originality. The dissertation is also illuminates the publicist activity of G.Seydamet in exile in 1919-1960, his close cooperation with European press and mainly with the magazine "Emel", defined thematic focus, ideological and artistic features his journalism. It also summarizes the value of G. Seydamet's memoirs as an important source of facts from Crimea history at the beginning of XX century. The memories combine a features of value literature product and dokument of real history.
