The research is devoted to studying the problem of psychological and pedagogical factors of adaptation of the gifted children to the conditions of primary school. The summarized results of the theoretical analysis of the scientific literature on the problem of adaptation and giftedness are presented in this scientific work, the features of adaptation in the primary school age are reviewed. The conceptual model of adaptation is worked out, personal (relevant and nonrelevant adaptations, personal traits, self-esteem, confidence in themselves, value consciousness) and motivational (learning motivation, motivation to succeed ) components of adaptation, levels (adaptability, nonadaptability, disadaptability) and patterns of adaptation of the gifted children are determined; the psychological and pedagogical factors of adaptation of the gifted children to the conditions of primary school (the field of relationships, the style of family education, the psychological and pedagogical support) are set. The psychological profiles of the gifted (adapted, nonadapted, disadapted) children of primary school age are investigated; the connection of communicative skills, confidence, emotional stability, self-control and prone to aggression; isolation, uncertainty, anxiety, impulsivity and propensity to aggression; self-esteem, confidence in themselves and value consciousness to the adaptation process of the gifted children is pointed .The real effectiveness and efficiency of the psychological and pedagogical support of adaptation of the gifted children is proved.
