Object - development of English lexical competence of future life safety specialists. Purpose - to ground theoretically and approve experimentally the methodology of developing English lexical competence of future life safety specialists in virtual learning environment. Methods - theoretical, empirical, statistic. Theoretical results and novelty - the methodology of developing English lexical competence of future life safety specialists in virtual learning environment has been scientifically grounded and developed; the linguodidactic model of developing future life safety specialists' English lexical competence in virtual learning environment has been developed; psychological and pedagogical conditions of developing virtual learning environment have been characterized; the evaluative criteria of levels of developing English lexical competence of future life safety specialists have been defined; the essence and structure of the concepts "English lexical competence" and "virtual learning environment" have been defined; the methodology of organizing English lexical competence of future life safety specialists teaching has been further developed. Practical results - the textbook "Mission to rescue. Better trained, better prepared" for future life safety specialists has been elaborated; the English glossary of professional terms for the first year students specializing in the sphere of life safety has been worked out; the set of audio and video materials with commentaries of professional actions of life safety specialists has been created; the guidelines for the development of English lexical competence of future life safety specialists in virtual learning environment have been worked out. Efficiency of introduction is high. Branch - pedagogical, higher educational establishments.
