The dissertation focused on the studying the role of the components of nitric oxide system (NO-synthases, their substrate as L-arginine, peroxynitrite) in the mechanisms of glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis development in white rates under modeling increased formation of nitric oxide from exogenous precursor (chronic sodium nitrate intoxication). It has been shown the functional state of NO- synthase significantly affects the process of disarrangement of connective tissue and osteometric characteristics of tibial bones and vertebrae in the modeling of glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis under chronic sodium nitrate intoxication. It has also been revealed the impairment of bone remodeling during modeled osteoporosis under chronic sodium nitrate intoxication with is peroxynitrite-dependent. The introduction of peroxynitrite scavenger L-selenomethionine improves the process of bone formation and suppresses the bone resorption, limits collagenolysis and disorganization of proteoglycans in the tissues of the tibia and vertebrae, increases the mean density of cellular elements placement and relative amount of osteoblasts. Introducing of apple pectin and pectin-containing oatmeal into the rats' diet during the period of osteoporosis modeling under chronic sodium nitrate intoxication restrains the collagenolysis and depolymerization of proteoglycans in bone tissue, and increases its strength properties.
