Paslavska L. Ukrainian Ceramics Bowl in the Context of the National Artistic Culture of the End of the 19th - Beginning of the 20th Century

In the thesis Ukrainian ceramics bowl of the end of the 19th - beginning of the 20th century in the system of national artistic culture is explored. The theoretical and methodological basis of the research is grounded. It is defined that as subsystem of national culture the Ukrainian ceramic bowl is characterized as anonymity, collectivist, impersonal, traditional, oriented on the tribal experience, canonicity; as the subsystem of artistic culture, it includes artistic works, activity and artistic value of works of the national art. The regional centers of Ukrainian pottery in the context of culturological and study of art is considered. The issue of functioning of the traditional symbolism and decorative pattern in Ukrainian artistic culture is revealed. The classification of the composition and decorative pattern of ceramic bowls which is based on the combination of decoration (geometrical, plants, zoomorphic, combined) and types of composition (centre, symmetrical, asymmetrical, heraldry) is elaborated. The composition and decorative pattern of Ukrainian ceramics bowl of Kyiv, Poltava and Podolia of the end of the 19th - beginning of the 20th century is characterized. The peculiarity of functioning of the traditional symbolism of artistic art in the modern design practice.
