The research focuses on the theoretical foundations of national interests in foreign trade. It investigates the mechanisms of realization of foreign trade interests on the global agricultural market and describes direction of implementation of foreign trade interests of Ukraine on the world sugar market. The nature of foreign trade interest as an organic component of national economic interest is defined, classification on general economic and trade specific is provided. Evolution of the fundamental long-term interests in the trade area is presented based on the classical and neoclassical theories of international trade. The author systematizes specific agricultural market mechanisms and instruments of implementation of foreign trade interests, improving approaches to the research of study of foreign interests. The author defines competitive position of the leaders of the world sugar market and identifies their key foreign interest and describes key instruments applied by the leaders to strengthen the position on the global sugar market.
