The thesis presents theoretical generalization and a new approach to solving important and actual tasks that are to identify and to provide experimental verification of pedagogical conditions of intercultural competence of a future teacher of foreign languages in the process of professional training: cultural orientation of professional training; intensification of interpersonal communication; intercultural orientation of research work of a future teacher of foreign languages. In a study intercultural competence of a future teacher of foreign languages is interpreted as an integrative characteristic of the individual that represents a set of important professional knowledge, skills and abilities, a system of motives and values that are essential for solving problems of professional and intercultural activities and provide a functional ability to work in a situation of cultural interaction in the style of cooperation and tolerance. The structural components (cognitive, cultural, motivational), criteria (cultural speech, socio-cultural, professional orientation), indicators are determined and levels of intercultural competence of a future teacher of foreign languages (elementary, low, sufficient, high) are characterized.
