Mukhanov V. The historical development of soya scientific research in Ukraine (second half of ХІХ - beginning of ХХІ century)

The dissertation is devoted to the study of inception, formation and evolution of soybean production in Ukraine and its scientific background. The formation and development of Ukrainian soybean industry may be split into four stages: first - 1874-1917 - the beginning of first scientific experiments on introduction and selection of the culture in the Right-Bank and Central Ukraine; second - 1918-1941 - establishing a system of systemic research of the soybean culture on Ukrainian lands in the context of Soviet agricultural science; third - 1946-1991 - recovery of prospective research-and-development in the sphere of selection, agricultural technique and industrial production of soybean in the system of research institutions of the Ukrainian Academy of Agricultural Sciences; fourth - development of the sphere of industrial soybean production in the market conditions - from 1991 until now. The role of key research institutions and personalities in the formation and development of domestic soybean industry has been analyzed. The scientific thought was replenished with significant amount of new documentary sources and rare facts.
