This thesis presents the results of the complex clinic-neurological and imaging examination of 145 patients with stroke in posterior circulation (PC). It has been revealed that patients with PC ischemic stroke in comparison with patients with infarct in anterior circulation are younger, with higher prevalence of the diabetes mellitus. Ischemic strokes in PC clinically manifest as the combination of different symptoms that depends on the affected intracranial territory of PC. It has been established that NIHSS score, B. Hoffenberth et al. score, Glasgow coma scale score, atrial fibrillation, cardioembolic subtype of stroke, transient ischemic attacks in anamnesis and multiple PC intracranial territories involvement correlate with unfavorable outcome in PC. Patients with combined PC infarcts were characterized by more evident cognitive disorders in comparison with isolated. During the period of observation the statistically significant improvement of cognitive functions was observed during the first three month after stroke, while statistically significant improvement of depressive functions - only one year after stroke.
