Essay

The asyndetic sentence concepts in the Slavonic, Germanic and Romanic linguistics have been considered. The functional sentence perspective theory worked-out by J. Firbas has been analyzed; the possible variants of the functional sentence perspective categories on the ground of communicative dynamism of utterance components have been detected. The main principles of the theme-rhematic division (the actual division of the sentence) proposed by the Prague linguistic school member V. Mathesius has been distinguished, the definitions and the main characteristics of the categories which make out the actual division of the sentence - theme and rheme have been figured out.
