Sinna O. Landscape-ecological mapping based on GIS technologies (a case study of Kharkiv region)

The thesis is devoted to the theoretical foundation and development of methodical bases of landscape-ecological mapping based on GIS technologies and their application for Kharkiv region as an example. The paper reveals the essence of landscape-ecological mapping, its importance and interdisciplinary links as a separate direction of thematic mapping. Scientific approaches, principles, operational territorial units, stages and levels of mapping are systemized. A classification of landscape-ecological maps is made based on the degree of generalization of information (analytical, synthetic, complex maps); and functional areas (inventory, assessment, prognostic, advisable maps). A system of parameters, characteristics and visualization tools, a number of scale ranges of landscape-ecological maps is proposed.
