Essay

The dissertation submits the analysis of scientific, engineering, organizational and social activities of B.Ye.Vedeneev - an outstanding Ukrainian hydraulic engineer, a prominent scientist in the field of hydraulic engineering and hydropower. The paper highlights B.Ye.Vedeneev's historical significance and his achivements in developing hydraulic and hydro-power science in the first half of the XX century. Having arranged and methodized various sources' material, the author describes the way of hydraulic engineering and hydropower science development in the Russian Empire, the USSR and in Ukraine, comparing the process with the overseas ones. The thesis proves that scientific and pedagogical contribution of the scientist became the basis for developing new ideas concerned in further technological researches.
