The оbject of research is modern media culture. We have systematically studied representation of magic in the modern media culture and also analyzed its specifics. Mythologem of mage is observed as a complex culture-focused phenomenon. By analyzing key features of the mage image we have defined seven principal functional characteristics of the mage mythologem. The diachronic transformation of the mage mythologem has been analyzed making stress on modern culture. The Theory and History of Culture, Cultural Studies.
