The thesis deals with the problem of first-year students' adaptation to studying at higher technical educational institutions. Revealed are the main complications and factors influencing students' adaptation. The real-life conditions of training future engineers were taken into account for specifying theoretical standpoints of first-year students' adaptation to studying at university.
