Essay

Object: childhood as a social and cultural space. Purpose: conceptualization of childhood as a social and cultural space and determining factors of its differentiation in contemporary society. Methods: theoretical generalization, deduction, the method of comparative analysis, typology, the analysis of statistical data, analysis of documentary sources, observation, unstructured in-depth interview, the method of dense description of the data and content analysis. Theoretical and practical results: considered the theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of childhood in the social sciences and humanities; classification of sociological approaches to the analysis of the phenomenon of childhood; developed categorical conceptual apparatus of sociological study of childhood as a social and cultural space; analyzed factors influencing the formation of childhood as a social and cultural space, and provided their classification; analyzed socio-cultural practices of childhood and done comparative analysis of these practices, both in Ukraine and in other countries around the world in different historical periods; developed typology of socio-cultural practices of childhood; described factors influencing the processes of differentiation of childhood as a social and cultural space in contemporary society. Novelty: solved the important target of contemporary sociology - the conceptualization of childhood as a social and cultural space, the factors of its formation and characteristics of its differentiation in contemporary society. Implementation: the thesis were the basis of the lecture course "Sociology of Childhood" and used in academic discipline "Sociology of Youth", which are taught to the 4th year students of the School of Sociology of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, and used within lecture course "Sociocultural analysis of everyday practices", which is taught to the 5th year students of the School of Sociology.
