Essay

Object: the autonomy of the university. Goal: conceptualization of the role of autonomy in the processes of modernization of contemporary university education. Research methods: analysis and synthesis, typology, historical, correlational, factor, and dispersive analysis, Likert scale of total grades, Rush model. Theoretical and practical results: it is proposed to consider the phenomenon of university autonomy in the context of post-structural theory of P. Bourdieu; it is proved that exactly the conditions of classical universities contribute to the formation of adaptive-innovative capacity of the student that meets the challenges of the current stage of modernization of higher education; the concept of "adaptive-innovative potential of student" is introduced; based on the application of the methodology of G. Hofstede the modal type of Ukrainian students is defined. Novelty: conceptualization of the phenomenon of university autonomy in the context of modernization of the national higher education. Degree of implementation: results of the thesis are used in the courses such as "Sociology of Education", "Socio-cultural analysis of Ukrainian society," "Social Psychology" for students of School of Sociology of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv national university.
