Strayhorodska L. Activity of Corresponding Member UAS V.O. Pohhenpol in the context of national meteorological science (second half of the nineteenth - 30 years. XX c.)

Thesis reveals the research and teaching activities of domestic famous scientist-meteorologist fenolog professor V.O. Pohhenpol (1854-1938). The paper first presents periodisation of scientist's work, conducted historiographical analysis of the literature that discloses scientific and organizational work and teaching career of V.O. Pohhenpol, found the main factors shaping his scientific outlook, highlights the educational, scientific and organizational activity in Uman College of Agriculture and Don agricultural collage. The thesis shows the history of meteorological science. Significant contribution of eminent scientists in its formation is revealed. The basic directions of phenological and meteorological researches are analized. Significant contribution and important scientific achievements of professor V.O. Pohhenpol for the development and establishment of phenology, meteorology and in educational sphere are exposed and brought to the light. In the research the role and active participation of V.O. Pohhenpol in international and all-Russian scientific exhibitions and congresses was highlighted, where he presented the results of his meteorological, phenological and agro-meteorological observations.
