This paper analyzes the domestic and foreign experience, architectural planning of recreational landscapes considered scientific principles and methodological approaches to aesthetically oriented architectural and landscape areas of recreational landscapes. The analysis of recreational space Ukrainian Carpathians was held, which led to the conclusion of these problematic areas and underestimating the aesthetic component in the architectural landscape of recreation systems at different hierarchical levels (regional planning, architectural and urban design, landscape design). The proposed method of estimating the aesthetic potential recreational landscapes based on the model of the "distance to the etalon."
