The dissertation is devoted to the complex research of advances of professor A. K. Skorohodko in the branch of farm animal hygiene. The terms and main factors of formation of his scientific outlook and of priority directions of scientific activities were highlighted. Periodization of his scientific, pedagogical and organizational activity was offered. A. K. Skorohodko's contribution in the organization of research work in animal husbandry and higher education in Ukraine was characterized. The scientific heritage of the scientist was analyzed and systematized, ways to use some his scientific developments.
