Essay

The dissertation investigates the role of foreign direct investment in the development of export potential of the newly industrialized countries (NICs) of Asia. It summarizes the main research areas of export operations of TNCs, discloses modern theories of TNCs ( TNC network theory, fragmentation of international production theory, regional TNC theory, рroximity-сoncentration trade-off theory), investigates the mechanism of FDI impact on the export capacity of the host country. The thesis analyzes the current position and trends of TNCs activities in Asian NICs, examines the direct impact of TNCs on the dynamics of newly industrialized countries exports, reveals the effect of FDI on structural changes in exports and the role of non-equity forms of TNC operations in shaping the export potential of these countries. It surveys offshore production seeking FDI as well as the peculiarities of export policies of TNCs in Asian NICs, studies econometric tests of FDI macroeconomic impact on exports of Asian new industrialized countries, anylises NICs public policy experience to stimulate exports TNC and focuses on its importance for Ukraine.
