Object - the process of preparing humanities students for English speaking on the basis of authentic works of literature. Purpose - to ground, to elaborate and to test oral English speech methods of teaching oral English speech to humanities students on the basis of authentic works of literature. Methods - theoretical, empirical and statistical. Theoretical results and novelty - for the first time the methods of teaching oral English speech to humanities students on the basis of authentic works of literature were scientifically substantiated and worked out. The contemporary oral English speech has been characterized; its functions, action conditions and linguistic features have been established. The methods of teaching the contemporary English colloquial speech in pedagogical theory and practice have been analyzed and their practical importance and spare capacities have been determined. The psychological mechanisms of the oral English speech production and realization have been investigated and the content of its teaching has been structured. The system of exercises for teaching oral English speech based on the authentic works of literature and methodological guidelines for their realization have been developed. The effectiveness of the developed methodology has been confirmed by means of specially established criteria in accordance with their levels. Practical results - a system of exercises and a special course in teaching humanities students "English Conversational Course for the Students of Humanitarian Faculties" have been developed. Efficiency of introduction is high. Branch - pedagogical, higher educational establishments.
