Dissertation includes theoretical summary and solving of scientific and practical task in relation to the influence of selenium deficiency on thyroid status, lipid spectrum of blood, prooxidant and antioxidant homeostasis, nitrogen oxide system, structure of the components of hypothalamus-hypophysis-thyroid axis, heart and liver of rats with iodine deficiency. That is why the scientific work uses the complex of physiologic, biochemical, morphometric and statistic methods of research. The practical meaning lies in determination of pro-thyroid, anti-oxidant, cardio and hepatic protective effects of selenium.
