The thesis presents a comprehensive study of folklore festival as an artistic phenomenon that has become an integral part of the socio-cultural environment in Ukraine of the end of the 20th - beginning of the 21st centuries. Made explication of the concept of "Folklore Festival", which is considered in the study as a multicultural, multifunctional, interactive view forums aimed the revival, preservation, promotion and broadcast of ethnic and cultural heritage. The paper singled socio-cultural predictors of Folklore Festivals and general trends of development in Ukraine from the 80's of the 20th century - to the beginning of the 21st century. On the basis of the history of folk-festival movement in Ukraine of the end of the 20th - beginning of the 21st centuries, bring it into periods. Author determined functions of local folklore festivals - socio-cultural, information and communication, recreation, cognitive, educational, etnoeducate, philosophical, creative, representative, economic. Shown activity Ukrainian used as part of the International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Traditional Arts in expanding dimensions of intercultural dialogue.
