Karat O. Diachronic linguistics universals in the twentieth century

The thesis is devoted to the question of the history of the linguistic universals. Actualistic method was used to establish a complete picture of the evolution of scientific views on the problem of diachronic universals in languages with different structures. This method consists in the use of modern knowledge to explore the past, present and foresee the future. For a complete and comprehensive analysis of the diachronic linguistics universals sources study in the XXth century the material in the thesis was investigated according to the following tendencies: 1) defining the diachronic universals essence and their connectivity with the idea of language evolution; 2) studying the history of the given problem; 3) discovering features of diachronic universals investigated in the 20s – 50s.of the XXth century; 4) discovering features of diachronic universals investigated in the 60s – end of the XXth century; 5) generalizing regularities of diachronic universals research in linguistics of the XXth century;6) defining researchers’ statements concerning diachronic universals that were promising for linguistics at beginning of the XXIth century. Scientific papers on the study of diachronic universals
