Essay

The thesis deals with the problem of differential approach to the development and use of didactic materials in the teaching of Geography in elementary school. Existing types of didactic materials are summarized (illustrative tools, task-cards, game didactic materials, electronic didactic materials) and their generalized classification is given. Revealed and theoretically grounded factors that influence the differentiated approach in the development and use of didactic materials in Geography lessons, namely: the level of teachers' and students' preparation, taking into account individual characteristics of students, the type of a lesson, the structural components of a lesson, methodical providing of Geography cabinet with didactic materials, the use of information and communication technologies etc. The method of a differentiated approach to teaching materials in the process of studying the section «Сontinents» in the course «The geography of continents and oceans» (Grade 7) was developed and experimentally tested. Guidelines regarding differentiated approach in learning geography with the use of complex teaching materials were formulated.
