In the thesis for the first time on the basis of historical and pedagogical material were found prerequisites that had a significant influence on the character of the preparation of the specialists in the tutor's field; systematized the principal theoretical ideas and practical experience of the preparation of teacher-tutor in the heritage of the famous domestic figures in the field of education of the investigated period; found out the role of progressive community and private persons in the formation and development of the system of professional and pedagogical training of teacher-tutor; generalized the experience of training teacher-tutor in Ukraine in the second half of XIX - the beginning of XX century, the process of which occurred in the defined system of professional pedagogical education. Outlined the possibilities of actualization of the leading ideas and experience of the past in the issue of training the specialists in tutor's field of the past in modern conditions. On this purpose specified and supplemented the meaning of terms "tutor", "teacher-tutor", "pedagogical activity of tutor". The last one is considered as a form of pedagogical activity of the teacher. Developed and experimentally checked the organizational and functional model in Pre-University training of teacher-tutor, the aim of which covers: the creation of educational institution; development and introduction in the educational process of the educational institution the course of "Professional and pedagogical training of the future teacher-tutor: Pre-University stage".
